The MOTHER TRUCKING kids!

Nov 9, 2008 Author: RickySilk | Filed under: kids, life

They fight and argue and fight and fight and argue and fight and argue and argue and I’m mother trucking tired of it.

It’s time like this when I find myself thinking back to the days that I lived in an apartment downtown with my girlfriend, I rode my bike when I wanted, ate when I wanted and napped when I wanted. These thoughts are useless and do no good.

I just mixed an extra large margarita so things should be smoothing out shortly.

I had no time to ride today… I’m thinking of going for a solo night ride after I get a good buzz on…. ah who am kidding. I’ll ride tomorrow….. mother trucker.

Halloween 2008

This was the first year The Boy has thoroughly understood, absorbed and participated in Halloween.

We did the neighborhood parade.

Some trick or treating. Then it was time to get our sugar buzz on!

Lil E hung pretty good. She’s a girl who knows exactly what she wants. If someone started to put candy that she didn’t like in her bag she would say, ” I don’t like that”. We tried to explain to her that when you’re trick or treating you just accept what they give you, but it didn’t work. It was kind of funny. I was proud and embarrassed at the same time. Proud that she was confident enough to tell people how she felt, but embarrassed because she came off as a spoiled brat.

We sort of created this monster. I remember the first time she pitched a fit about not getting the pink straw at Moe’s. We said she could drink out of the green straw she was given, not drink at all or go ask to exchange her green straw for a pink one. She got up, walked to the girl behind the register and asked to exchange her green straw for a pink one. When she got back to the booth she was wearing the smile of I-Am-Unstoppable. Ever since then she has asked for exactly what she wants and if she is given something she doesn’t want she says so.

I got off topic.

Fun at Wild Adventures

School starts next week so we decided to go for a little mini-vacation at Wild Adventures. It was pretty fun but it will be a lot more fun when the kids are both over 48″ tall so we can do the really fun rides.

I heard a girl freaking out behind us so I took some stealth photo’s of her.

It rained the second day… but it was the kind of rain kids love to play in.

Then we had some delirium on the drive home.

Visit to the Out-laws

Jul 22, 2008 Author: RickySilk | Filed under: bikes, kids, life, photos

Spent several days down in Ormond Beach with the out-laws. Pretty decent trip. I got in a couple of quality rides and a lot of beach time. Waves were pretty fun on the morey boogie.

The kids really enjoyed playing on the beach. They really like the tide pools the east coast beaches have, and the nice lazy gradual drop to the water as opposed the the very quick drop at St George.

The rides were kinda boring but it’s always nice to do something different. It was so flat my taint was getting a severe working over. The only time it felt natural to stand up was going over the Granada Bridge. The second ride I figured out I needed to put it in the hardest gear and stand to give the taint a little break.

It was a lot of this.

I did manage to find a little of this at Bulow State Park. That place is dank. I rolled up on some wild pigs rootin’ but I’m not a fast enough draw with the camera.

Nothing like riding in the Daytona area to make me appreciate what I have in Tallahassee.

Back to Birmingham

I drove back up to Birmingham with the family for my cousin’s wedding. Being the third weekend in a row of travel I’m ready for a break.

We went to the zoo and as usual the primates are the coolest. This gorilla was just chillin out stretching his hammies and chewing on blades of grass.

The party friday night at Vulcan was fun and the view of Birmingham from way up there is cool.

We spent some time at my grandparents place out in the woods where The Boy caught his first fish.

Saturday night was the wedding. The ladies in the family were feeling the wedding band.

Holidays Over

Jan 1, 2008 Author: RickySilk | Filed under: bikes, kids, life, photos

I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine. I managed to get quite a bit of riding in over the holidays. Most of it wet but not so cold. Apparently it was a little to much to quick and the ole achilles started aching a little. That usually just means I havn’t been stretching enough. I was made with terribly tight hammies. I always know they’re getting tight when I get pain in the back of my knee or achilles.

Christmas was good. Kids were happy.

Christmas Morning

Nate dogg got dinosaurs for Christmas. Santa told me that he was able to score most of these in one big lot on Ebay.

Did a jammy ride with the Tallahassee Wonder Couple of Jim Smart and Kristen Bowers. Poor Kristen…. Jim made her ride a rigid one speed for years telling her “It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again.” but now she has a racer-x and seems real happy. (Just jokin jim)

Which reminds me of this funny video.

Erin did a HTFU ride last sunday afternoon and got more than she bargained for. A “scattered thunder storm” made things interesting and she hit the deck on some rooty singletrack.

She said, “I can’t believe I made it back alive” but I know what she really meant was, “I’ve never felt so alive!”. I was waiting in the garage to ambush her paparazi style.

Rotten Phase

For the last 2 months or so my 4.5 year old boy has been a demon. Not all the time, but enough to make parenting extra difficult. I’ve had to walk away several times. We have to practice tag team discipline. 5 hours with the Nate Dogg is way harder than 5 hours of Fools Gold.

This is just the top half of this picture. The bottom half was much the same. Every body part was covered. I mean EVERY body part.
Demon

That night was actually pretty funny. I don’t mind him tattooing himself. It’s his attitude that needs improvement. If he’s not extremely grumpy he’s crazy crazy wild.

I gotta get this kid in sports. He’s expressed interest in football. He doesn’t want to catch or throw, just tackle. Just wants to hit.
