The Dan and I got out at lunch for a quick road pootle through Killearn Saturday. It was pretty uneventful until we got the stink eye (twice) from some sort of tri guy.
Then we passed an old fella going the opposite way wearing his helmet backwards. We really wanted to turn around and take a picture but we didn’t want to humiliate the guy. After all, he was out enjoying a day on the bike just like us.
Well we come around again and see him taking a break at the Celebration church. We hatched a plan to approach him and ask if he knew of any water fountains around and I would snap some stealth photos.
We acted like we went to get some water then as we passed him I tried for a stealthy on the bike photo that didn’t come out too good.
I got home and told The Wife what we had been up to and she called me an a-hole.

Hmmm, perhaps it is WE who are wearing our helmets on backwards…hmmmm
Wives are seldom wrong and I’m sure yours is not. But I personally am impressed with your attempt at subtlety while going to great lengths to get the photo of this IMPORTANT news item. This is excellent Monday morning reading fare.
Are you sure it’s not the helmet that is wearing the man backwards?? And where did that blue helmet find such a wee man??
I am trying a run at the conversation you two had on the way to that covert operation. Who first suggested it? Dan I am sure. Hats off for giving him rider cred.
Youze all jes’ don’t know the new stizyles yo!
Mingo, when we saw him the second time sitting on the church steps we knew it was destiny. I can’t recall which of us wanted to do it more… maybe Dan’s memory is better than mine.
Now, if I can just get a photo of the elusive Killearn Towel Rider…
nice one a-hole.
You deserve a stinky and a charlie-horse for that fab photo.
Isn’t that an Alabama shirt the guy’s wearing?
(yes, I’m from ala-sigh)
Towel rider? What about the skunk-ape night rider?
That was indeed mean, and perhaps not safe. I ran into a guy on Fern doing the same and helped him out gently noting “I think your helmet’s on backwards.” He was very appreciative. That being said I laughed about it for days afterwards.
